Originally, I used the Dremel to assist in my computer business when rebuilding a computer. The proprietary configurations of the mother board input/output connections made it necessary to modify the chassis back panel in order to accept a replacement board. Over time this has changed and new boards come with back panel inserts which will fit standardized cases. While not the problem it once was, I still need to do some chassis modifying on occasion, particularly when replacing power supplies in certain branded machines.
I received my present Dremel 400XPR as a Christmas present. It came in a kit with a much wider variety of bits and other accessories than I had kept previously. As a result, I started using the Dremel for whatever came along.
Since the Dremel has been added to the tool box of most every member of the case modifier sub-culture, my original use of the tool is not uncommon. There are many case-mod web sites that host Dremel "how-to's", although many use the Dremel for cutting holes in case panels for side windows they also demonstrate etching/engraving as well.

I like to make small boxes and small decorative birdhouses. The wood always splits when I drive a nail directly into the wood. I put a small collet in my Dremel multi speed 395 and put a large straight needle in the collet. Before I drive any nails I run the running Dremel with the needle in it into the wood and then drive the nail. The wood never splits anymore and the nails never bend. Just be careful when using the needle. It will burn the wood somewhat.

That looks great. I just ordered the plunge router from a nearby home center today. Seeing your project helps confirm my decision. Thank you.
Thanks,
