unclogging aluminum from high speed cutters

By Chubbo - Saturday, March 23, 2013

WinkI have three high speed cutters, two #124 & one #144.

I forgot to wax them before using them on soft aluminum, and they are completely clogged with aluminum. Does anyone know the best way to loosen up the aluminum and get it out of the cutters? Thanks.

Hi, this is Beth from Dremel.  In regards to your High Speed Cutters, first off, "Waxing" the bit isn't something that Dremel has ever recommended... it almost makes me feel that this is the reason perhaps the metal pieces are now sticking to the bits.  What I would recommend to "clean" the debris from off the bit at this point is to "run" in through some wood a couple of times.  This usually will do the trick for you!  If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact our Dremel Customer Service Center on our toll free phone number of 1-800-437-3635, Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 6:00 pm, CST.  Any of us would be happy to assist you!

Try to roll the cutter backwards by pushing on some s c r a p wood. Also I coat the cutter with dry tap lube before using .
