Have you tried the new EZ Lock Abrasive Brushes, Detail Abrasive Buffs, Polishing Cloth Wheels, Carbide Cutting Wheel or Diamond Wheel? What did you think?

225-01 Flex Shaft Attachment Collar

So, I have a question that maybe someone can answer. I have searched the forums and the internet looking for something but have yet to find anything.

When tightening the collar of the attachment to the dremel tool, if the collar is tightened enough to lock in place the tool actually locks and will not engage, as if it is over tightened. When I back off the collar a few turns the tool will engage however the collar will work its way out enough that at one point it actually came off during use. So, I have taken it off, pulled the shaft out and re-lubricated the shaft with some hi-temp grease. And still the results are the same. Am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Kirk

The Way I View EZ Lock

Don't take offense, I don't want to be rude.

The way i see this EZ lock system: It's the biggest scam in tool maker history. EZ Lock was developed mainly for cutting wheels and we all know how long those are made to last- 1 foot of cutting per wheel at $1 a wheel, isn't cheap. How can Dremel rip of the consumer even more? Make them buy a $10 EZ Mandel that fits $2 a piece wheels!- still only cutting at 1 foot for wheel. But now consumers can switch the used wheels faster, meaning they will use more wheels, and throw away even more money!

Come on it's the 21st century, Dremel can make this wheels last longer if they wanted to.

Accessory changes with EZ and the new EZ twist?

****o. Love Dremel and almost forgot about this forum. I have question. I have the 4000 rotary tool and have fallen in love with (gotten spoiled) the EZ-lock.

Now I see the EZ twist feature and have a couple of questions. Dremel told me it will work on the 4000 tool and they sell them. Now I'd like user input. In the picture of the 4200 tool I see a lever and the nose looks differnt. I had thought the EZ twist was just a nose piece that fits around the collet nut's flat sides to unscrew it. Dremel also told me it doesn't work with the chuck that replaces the collets and nut. I would like to get the EZ twist but almost never use the different collets any more. If it won't work on the chuck I may not need it. I seldom use the wrench on the chuck. Only when I NEED to know the accessory is in the tool super tight. Never had one slip yet just using my fingers to tighten it yet though.

Any info on the EZ twist on my 4000 tool is appreciated regarding the normal collet nut and the chuck also. Thanks in advance for any help.

Jack

Using EZ Lock Diamond Wheel

I want to cut ~1/2 X 1" slabs from stone using this wheel but have several questions.

Normally water is used with diamond saws. Can water be used with this? Want to immerse wheel in pan of water and use bottom of pan to guide stone to get parallel cut.

I imagine this will be very messy.

Will this hurt the EZ lock shaft????

What speed range should be used with this wheel? Description says not to go over 20000, but this doesnt agree with the speed guide.

Whats the best disc for cutting Bone

Hi

I cut Bone to make NZ style fish hooks and other jewellery so cut fresh cow bone - it's pretty hard but not like stone - i carce it with sanding disc's and Carbide Burrs -
But what i want to know is what type of Disc's would be the best to cut this bone (also part number or exact Disc)
I have tried a few cheapy cut off disc's but they wear out quick and break a lot i would prefer a solid disc i can use many times.

Any info appreciated
Thanks Mark

P.S Merry Xmas all

attaching a cutting disc to dremel
How do i attach a cutting disc to a dremel?

EZ Lock

Having used cut off disks for modeling over many years I was delighted to find this Dremel tool. Very resilient and stands up to quite a lot of abuse that would cause other similar disks to fail. Yes they cost a bit more but work so much better and are a doddle to change. Will work right to the hub so very little waste. I've just bought a kit with another hub and several disks all in a nice box so very handy when required.

MultiPro Keyless Chuck

I have a similar chuck I can use with my cordless screw driver, to
hold a drill bit. The inner claws hold a drill bit allowing me to use the
the screw driver to drill a hole.

So I expected the MultiPro Keyless Chuck to work the same way. The chuck screwed onto my Dremel with no problem, but I can't get the
inner claws to close down on a bit and hold it. My Dremel is over 20 years old, and that might be the problem.

I just purchased it through Amazon and need to know if I'm missing
something, or if I should return it.

Dremel Bit Speed at 20k?

****o All

Just joined the forum, and have been using the EZ545 to cut /trim rocks and do lapidary work (just started doing that about a month ago.) From what I am reading on here, a lot of you have a lot more knowledge/experience than I do, and that's a good thing!

I happened to notice today -and this info may have been on the info packets, but I rarely read them - about the diamond disk rpm limits at 20,000. My dremel has a 2 speed variable 35k and 12k or 15k (don't remember off hand - I'm not at home).

Anyway, what could happen running it on 35k? Actually, I have been doing just that for quite some time. Seems odd they'd make a Dremel that will run that high and disks that won't. Will it work as effectively at a lower speed? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Jim

USING CUTOFF WHEELS ON STAINLESS STEEL

Ive always used a sawzall for cutting stainless steel bolts..But I had a situation recently where I had to cut out the pads under my engine mounts in my boat to replace the waterlogged wood underneath..

After using the cutoff wheel on the fiberglass,I looked to the rear of the boat and there was 6 stainless steel bolts sticking out of the transom that hold the swim platform on..These would be very hard to cut off with a sawzall because I could damage the fiberglass inside the boat...Well I gotta say that my new dremel tool not only cut those bolts in 1/8 of the time it takes a sawzall,It also left a nice clean cut and no damage to any fiberglass..I honestly dont know why I havent bought one of these years ago...HOO-RAH DREMEL...

225-01 Flex Shaft Attachment

I have the 225-T1 Flex Shaft Attachment for a over ten years and I never actually used it. Just worked out that way. The dremel I had at the time is long gone as well as the piece of **** cordless I bought after that but I did go and buy the 400 xpr model and it works great. Only problem is I could actually use the flex shaft on what I am doing now but it doesn't work on this dremel. I know there is a square (in the center) collet nut that drives the shaft through the flex shaft. I don't have the square collet but the part that threads onto the dremel itself seems a bit deep to connect into the collet.

don't ask any questions at osh they are plain ......
Lowe's not much help there either
Home Depot depends on who's working or if anyone's working.

Any imput would be appreciated.

A New EZ Lock Accessory that deserves a comment

Hi Dremel folks and friends!

I just wanted to mention an aptitude test that was done in the local premises of Robert Bosch Argentina - Dremel related to the new EZ 545 EZ Lock 1-1/2" Diamond Wheel and I wish to share with you.

They emptied and egg in the regular way perforating a hole at each end of the largest axis and later on divided the s**** in two cutting it out with above mentioned 545 EZ Diamond. Result was a perfect clean cut of the undamaged eggs**** in two neat halves.

I hope this helps so many in the forum looking for the proper accessory for their enjoying dremelife.:P
