I bought one for my husband in 2001 and it has been unused in the box. Now I need to drill a hole about 1/4 in. in custom designed wine bottles to put lights inside. If someone has experience with the required accessory for drilling glass, let me know. I don't have alot of cash - so cheaper = better :)

cheers,
Jess

How to make bird toys

Hi all;

This is probably an incredibly stupid question but I don't even know what to do a Google search for at this point. You know those toys you can buy in a pet store for birds and small animals to chew on? Some of them are hanging bird toys and some are just like wooden carrots or what have you.

How do you make those? Even just the name of the tool or bit or part or whatever would be handy so that I could look it up!

Here comes a second stupid question.. on a bird house or a wooden hamster toy there is a hole for said creature to get in and out of the house.. it's usually around 4 inches across or so? What does one use to make a hole like that? I put in a search for "hole drill" in desperation and something actually came up, much to my surprise, is that actually what you'd use? Is there an attachment like that for the dremel?

I've had my dremel for a good 7 years or so now and all I've really done with it is cut out lids of bins to make hamster cages. I'm sure I could make them wooden toys a lot cheaper than I could buy them.. if I knew what I was doing that is.

Thanks!

What dremel tool for rock carving?

****o,
I am new to the forum and new to dremel. Before I purchase one I would like some advice. My main goal is to carve stone, mainly the types that I find around my yard. I really don't know what they are. Maybe some quartz. I would also like to be able to drill holes in the stone. I also would like to be able to cut s****, and maybe experiment with some wood carving as well. So my question to you guys is: What would be the best dremel tool for this and what accessories should I get?

Thank you,
Taijiphoenix

Mosaics / Stained Glass

Which product do your recommend for cutting, polishing and rounding ceramics and glass tiles? I have been repairing & restoring old trains for many years. That isn't news. That I just replaced my old Moto tool with a new 300 model is. The old one was sold at our garage sale after 30 years of great service. I found I needed a variable speed tool. I was happily surprised to find that all the old bits & brushes fit the new tool. I haven't used it yet but I expect it will be every bit as good as the old Dremel.

what are these?

just got this box of grinding things etc.

can you tell by the colors what they are made of?

thanks

Etching Plastic

I want to try and etch some polycarbonate (plastic) wine glasses. My husband has one (but won't share), so I am going to purchase my own to add to my own tool collection.

Any suggestions on type and tip to use, once I get my stencil adhered?

The glasses are those thick plastic that are good for outdoor use, but don't look like cheap plastic throwaways.

Thanks for any advice!

Drilling Holes In Metal For Custom Work

Hi, am new to site and Dremel as well. I am curious as to the potential uses for the tools. I was in Home Depot and purchased the 628 Precision Drill Set for the purpose of drilling holes in metal cards to act as clothing hangtags. I have not purchased a drill yet though, what Dremel do the members of this board recommend? How would I secure the metal in place so that I can drill precisely? I was hoping someone here would be experienced enough to recommned which bit to use on polystyrene to scoop out some space on the neck behind the earlobe. I dont want to darken the area and ruin the bust so of course I would practice on the back first but I dont have a clue where to start as far as which bit.
