I was wondering if I could use my model 285MultiPro as a dremel to cut out the recessed part for the strike plate in a door. Using a chisel has never been good for me so I wanted to set the depth and cut out where the strike plate goes by hand? And if possible to do this, what dremel and accessories would I need for this job?

The multipro IS a dremel so I'm not sure I understand you saying you want to use it AS a dremel when it is one. Yours is the two speed, correct? That said, you can use the router attachment or even the 565 guide with a router bit, 650,653 or 654 to remove most of the wood and then if necessary free hand with a high speed cutter that has a point to it or chisel out the corners if you don't want them rounded.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I wanted to use my dremel as a router. The one I own has the variable speed control. Looks like the 565 you suggested would be perfect for my door plate. Thanks for the help.
