Wondering what people use here to polish titanium. I've used a mixture of the cloth polishing wheels and polish. So far, the best combination is to start with the rough polishing compound from dremel and finish with a white paste from Mothers. I can bring out a mirror finish with periodic sanding of the felt wheels (to get the solid stuff off) but am wondering how I can do something more sophisticated like a watch. The deep grooves make it challenging to use a typical set of wheels and I am wondering how people have tackled this, especially against a tough metal like titanium. How can I remove the solid gunk after it builds up without damaging the mirror finish? Cuetips or some type of cleaner?

Thanks.

To clean up some of the residue left over without messing up what you have already done you might try the #414 felt wheel. Thats all I can think of for now I am drawing a blank for some reason.

I have three polishing bars, black, white and red. Rough, medium and fine. I use these with a felt wheel on my Dremel. For cleaning the grooves I would use vinegar to remove bulky residue and then use a throw away floss pick. If the grooves are fine you can also use a sewing needle. Soak Q-tip in vinegar and proceed. I use vinegar to clean all metal surfaces,it is slightly acidic also. I do some silver electroplating so am always polishing things. Hope that this helps you. Fred
