The router attachment is a very handy tool for the locksmith. Problem is it has a weakness. When the router attachment is screwed onto the tool the distance from the chuck to the work is too long. The shaft of the cutting tool bends a little when it's cutting into the wood and it is impossible to follow a straight line. When mortising striking plates into the wood a very accurate fit is required.

This would be the perfect tool for this and other jobs like this if the shaft could be made stronger or the router attachment could be made such that the head of the bit is closer to the chuck.
