Hi, I do a lot of work in glass and stone, my wife says I have more diamonds than a jewelry store. I also use silicon cribide stones and cribide drill bits. I also do some polishing on old jewelry. Also I build model cars and use the tool for some things doing that. And through in a little wood work and thats it. The Dremel is one of the best all around tools ever made.
I love it I own a single speed with a foot control for my flex shaft, I have a model 395 multi speed in my work station, and a model 400XPR just as my hand held go everywhere. My favorite is the 400XPR.

| My dremel has saved my butt on numerous occasions in the blacksmith shop, believe it or not. Recently I was TIG welding stems onto grape leaves and got a little too heavy on the foot pedal and burned a hole in the leaf. I welded it back up but this left a rather ugly weld deposit on the face of the leaf. I used a #952 al. oxide grinding point to grind down the weld, and then a #502 flap wheel to blend the weld - a perfect and invisible repair. Lately I have tried free hand carving of leaves, veins, and other designs on s**** cherry wood. I have found the #640 router bit in the dremel in a router attachment to be the best at cutting veins. Also, the #107 engraving cutter is handy for small leaves. I then take a Sharpie and run it in the veins and the leaves to make them stand out boldly.

| Hey Gregg, sorry it took me awhiule to get here. To answer your question, my 395 Multi-pro has been the"Night in Shining Armour" tool in my toolbox. It doesn't matter if I am working on my vehicle, house project, or wood project, it is the one tool that saves me. Before, I used to ask myself "How am I going to deal with this situation?" We've all been there, in the middle of a project, scratching our heads about something. Not now, with me, it is,"How am I-Dremel, which accessory do I need?" In the summer, my Dremel helped me take an old camping pop-up trailer, and converted it into a brand new home made utility/cargo trailer. My Dremel's original function was to help me shape composite rods and tubes, and shape bamboo sticks. Once properly cut and shape, these materials became frames for various types of kites. The bamboo sticks became the "Spines" on some "FighterKites". Well, I realize that my answer was a little long winded, but I hope I answered your question adequately. Barry

Kodiak (12/6/2007)
Lucifer (12/6/2007) wooden rims on my bicycle. //MartinExcuse me? Wooden rims for a bike??? Yes, it was quite common on race bikes in middle Europe in the 70's and 80's. I'll soon post about the project in dremelforum.com. As a professional wheelbuilder it's a simple task to disassemble the wheels and build them up again. The rims ar for tubular tires, so there are lot of old tubular glue left on them
