I received a Dremel 3000 as birthday present from my son and could not wait to start using it on projects. I was hugely disappointed when it stopped working after only a few hours of use. It was running intermittently - when you strike the case it starts running for a short while, only to stop again. I searched on the internet and was surprised to find many blogs listing exactly the same complaint. I replaced the brushes and then took it to a repair shop in our town. They replaced the switch and said it will be fine now (they mentioned experiencing lots of problems with the same model). I again used it for minutes before it stopped with exactly the same symptoms - if I strike the case it runs for a while. I am an engineer and decided to open it up to inspect for myself. The construction is of poor quality with four pins providing contact from the switch housing - it is clear that this product was designed to minimize cost and thus compromise quality. The only solution is to thow it into the garbage can and look for an alternative product of better quality. Shame on you Dremel for putting such junk on the market!
