I have owned several Dremel tools in the past. I have gone trough 3 of the regular multi speed Dremel in the past 11 years.  2 months ago my boss upgraded my Dremel to the XPR with all the attachments.  At first it sure seemed great but in the past 2 months I have already gone through 3 of them.  They overheat way too quickly and melt down on the inside, start smoking, and lock up.  When I pull the brush cover off, the brush mounts are melted away.  I use the Dremel in my profession as a maintenance man / locksmith.  it is one of my main tools that I use.  I use it a lot and like it very much but the durability is not there with the XPR.  I asked my boss to go back to the older style and hope it will last longer.  He is trying to find a die grinder that may work also but they only take collets down to 1/4".  For the $$ our company has spent on these Dremel we should get better quality.

Is it possible for Dremel to make a tool for heavy duty use that runs cooler and doesn't lock up when overheated?
