I used three different diamond burr bits for this, a sharp pin like one to create the fine lines and points, the smalled ball tipped one for filling the points in and the stars, then the larger balled tipped for filling in the rest of the design.   The design is of my own creation for a flash sheet for the tattoo studio I work in.

L.E.D's are in the process of being mounted on it as I'm typing this by my brother (I'm glad I have an electrician in the family because he's working with L.E.D's that I pulled out of a pair of shoes my son had out grown and rewiring a power source for them with a switch.)

That is some good work. I also like your inclusion of "how to" in your post

So beautiful...... I have another lighting technique that you may want to try sometime, but it is for use with the etching of mirrors...
I cannot post right now, but I will do so tonight..
Your work is inspiring.....

hats off, steve.

Thanks for the compliments all!!  I'm seriously addicted to this now and have done 3 more this weekend, one of which was on a tiny 1" diameter mirror and done from the back side.  All will be illuminated once I can make it to Radio Shack for some L.E.D's, and wire, and order a few controllers off the net so I can do multi color L.E.D's that run on a chase.

Something I'm going to attempt with mirrors is using a bake on paint for stained glass windows in the etching on the back, then mounting them to a small tealight candle holder to illuminate the image from the back, and drilling a small hole to add a bail in which to hang them with for suncatchers.

I have way too many ideas and not near enough time to try them all!!  Starting to think that I need to find a way to make a clone to do all the housework so I can play with my dremel even more!

Here is another one

This one will probably end up being a double layer with the crosses layer being illuminated in blue, and the second layer being etched only in the corners with a coordinating tribal patter and illuminated with white.
