I have used the Multimax on only one occasion and while I liked the initial performance that came to an abrupt end when the blade kept coming loose.  I contacted Dremel and there is an apparent problem with locking down screw, apparently the cupped washer provided will not torque down enough to secure the blade properly.  They have since supplied me with an additional washer which they claim will correct the problem.  I will be testing it this coming week end and will provide you with a follow up, I do however feel that this an easily corrected problem.

I would like to add that if the tool performs as well as it should and there is no reason to doubt that, it will be of the most significant additions to the dremel line in some time.  As a part time renovator it is the tool that I have been looking for for some time and priced correctly.

Doug:

I got one for Christmas and have used it a few times. So far so good. I used it for a couple of projects for which I would have normally turned to a jigsaw. It saved me the time and hassle of having to bring out the jigsaw and dealing with all set up, mess, etc.

I like it and think it will come in handy for more projects in the future. If I didn't get one for Christmas I would have waited a bit before picking one up. There isn't a project I can think of that I could not use one of my other tools for. The big difference, however, is that you can take this one out quickly and use it in less time and it does not make as much of a mess. I find that very helpful.

I can tell you that I have done some internet research on the Multi-Max and it has received very good reviews. It is a lot cheaper than the Fein. I am sure that Fein owners will start purchasing the Dremel accessories. Apparently the accessories are interchangeable between the two brands with the Dremel's being more affordable. Good luck.

Thanks,

Kurgan

Doug:

You would have been better off leaving notes around the house before Christmas. Now you will need to fork over the cash. : )

Thanks,

Kurgan

I most likely would have to fork it over anyway thats just the way it is. I don't mind though.

As promised I tried out the Multi Max this weekend and was quite impressed with the performance.  It appears that the washer supplied does the trick.  The unit plunge cuts quickly and with little vibration and I can't wait to get all the attachments to try them all out.  In addition I talked to the people at the local Home Depot and apparently the only feedback that they are getting is positive and the only problem is getting inventory for the store.  Looks like Dremel has a winner!

Well, well... I thought that I was set for a while, but after reading your comments, Wayner, the thing is beginning to sneak into the back of my mind. Thank you for your input and please let us know of your further 'vibrating' impressions while you fully enjoy your machine.

I just Purchased it on Amazon i got it after a few days and guess what the motor wont turn on.

i tried calling Dremel on Friday and there office was closed.
so i called Amazon and they said they will send me a replacement, but guess what its temporally sold out. I'm so upset.

Does anyone know if there is something that needs to be done the first time you try turning it on? I read the manual didn't see anything

Any info would be much appreciated,

Ezzy
