Hi,

Just received a 400xpr today, works great. But the flex shaft doesn't operate. I followed all of the instructions, but the thing doesn't move. The motor spins great it just doesn't spin the flex shaft. Am I missing something ?

Welcome to the forum, Cardinal Flyer. You surely forgot to retire the collet nut from the motor shaft and to install in it's place the Driver cap (marked '7' in the instructions sheet) which has a square hole in it, and tighten it. Let me tell you that this happened to great part of us the first time we had the gadget in our hands and wishing to see it working. Come back if you need more help, and also let us know how you get along and please remember that we all need to share your experience fullfilling the reasons of this forum's existance. Good luck!

****o Flyer.

If you examine the end of the cable shaft on the flex-shaft, you will see it is shapped into a square. It is necessary for you to take the collet out of the 400 and replace it with the collet that has a square shapped hole in it. Then when you screw the flex-shaft onto the motor unit, the cable will seat into that hole and the power will be transmitted to the shaft. The removed collet is to be put in the end of the flex-shaft and the nut tightened down on it to hold your choice of bits. That should get you into the game.

Flyer,

Here is a link to the Dremel site with the official guide for flex-shafts, just in case my earlier explanation wasn't clear.

good luck,
