I'm interested in trying to use my dremel tool for grinding/ polishing or perhaps drilling bead holes in stones like jasper up to garnet hardness. Does anyone know if it can be done with Dremel tools, and if so, what types of bits (I know I'd need diamond coated, just not sure which) I'd need.
Thanks for the input!

I have a wonderful Dremel cordless. I'm interested in the possibility of shaping/polishing semi-precious gemstones, or drilling bead holes with it. Does anyone know if this tool of capable of that- and what bits would be required (I'm sure I'd need diamond bits, but don't know which ones)
Thanks for input!

I can't help you with polishing but as for drilling I use my (old) Dremel 395T6 to drill sea glass as well as various gemstones. Use diamond point bits, fluteless not twist, and have stone/bead and tip of bit in water when drilling. I have better luck with higher speeds. Don't force when drilling. I generally use bits of 1/8" diameter (give or take depending on job) and 1 3/4" length. If you google "drilling sea glass" you will find LOTS of info/tutorials/videos. Good luck!
