| I just picked up a router attatchment. While I used a friendsold model non plunge to inlet a lock in my muzzleloader project this is new to me. I have a rather unusual project for this. In 1960 when our church was built, stained glass panel windows were installed. 3 are now broken and need replaced. The glass retainer moldings(pine) are glued in and I need to cut out the moldings W/o breaking the glass further. The supplier gave us a break on the price if he could donate the useable panes to a college art department. Since I have limited space around the frame, could I run the straight edge guide along the inside of the moulding? Or how would you reccomend doing this?

Hi Jim first of all Welcome to the forum. In the case of your question a picture would say a thousand words although I have no idea of how to get them out.

| Doug I agree, I should have snapped a few pictures. However the windows are about 30 miles east of where I am now at work. One way or another they are coming out tomorrow morning(even if I have to do it with a chizel and mallet). I took a day of vacation to get this done. I played around with the router base last night and if I can't use it on this project it's no problem, cause I will find projects for it. I want to try some inlay work anyway so am not out anything. There are always trade offs and for this job the base may be too big? I'd really like to have a base about 2 1/2-3" to get into tight spots. Though I know it would be tippy. May have to make one?

| Well they are done! There was less room to work than I remembered. 3/8"" mouldings against a deep frame. Dremel Router would not work, trim router would'nt either. We wound up using the fiber reinforced cut off discs(should have had a rotary saw blade) and a roatary cutter and finished up with a 1/2" chisel. I'm working on plans for a home made min clearance router base, simular to the Stew Mac base used by luthiers. Will be interesting to see if I can come up with something that will be more than junk??
