| I just bought a 4000 this evening, haven't even opened it up yet! I have been a Dremel (and other brands) rotary tool usar for many years, mainly for RC hobby related tasks. I will post up some feedback in a little while...

Hi Sandman - we are planning on launching the Dremel 4000 in Australia in late 2010.
Its truly the one of the best rotary tools that Dremel has built!

| HELP!!! I just bought a Dremel 4000 yesterday. I was cutting some groves into a piece of wood with a cutting tool when the tool stopped working. Is this something that happens often? Will it start working again? If the tool burned out after only 15 minutes of use, that would be surely a bad tool... in that case, could I return it to the store I bought it at or to you? Please reply!!! I have a project I purchased this tool specifically to finish and need it to work or to return it and get one that works. Thanks!

| I had been using my 300 series for about a year when I decided to upgrade recently, and have not touched my 300 since. I use the 4000 everyday! The speed control was a major factor in my decision (among many others). I do have a few however, although the handle is smaller than the 300 series, as a woman (petite hands), the "golf style" hand- hold is still the most comfortable hold due to the size of the 4000. If able, I will swap the expert grip attachment from the 300 to the 4000. My issues are mainly with the manual and explanation of tools. I have spent many hours practicing with attachments just trying to figure each out and no details are in the manuals. It is VERY frustrating to go between the quick start guide and the manual for speed, etc. For an example, I am finally using the sanding discs, and although it is used on a 402 mandrel, I am not sure of the best positioning, can they go back to back, use a washer, etc. An idea would be to have accessible a specific parts descriptions and usages. The manual does not go into detail I have been looking for. But seriously, if anyone is looking to purchase their first dremel or upgrading, the 4000 is WELL worth the price difference and many more features. I love it and would recommend it to anyone. For any project that comes up, my first thought is "how can I use my dremel?". Mic****e

| I have a question. For years Dremel stated it was the speed, not the power that mattered. The 400XPR and the 4000 both have more powerful motors than before. Sounds a bit contradictory. What are the Detail Nose Piece and the ginding/sander guide? Saw them in a set at Lowe's but no product listings on the site. Thannx, Bob

Last night, I became the owner of a Dremel 4000 in order to clean and polish a collection of brass pieces I intend to give as a Christmas gift. My original thought was to send them off to a professional metal polisher but we couldn't come to terms. So DIY became my next best option.
I Googled "metal polishing" and one recommendation was to use a Dremel 4000. A visit to the Dremel site provided numbers for the appropriate bits and pieces I would need. And, a search of this forum has answered my questions of how to proceed.
Having never used a Dremel tool, I have no comparison, but, so far, it has been easy to work with. I consider each piece of the collection to be part of my progressive learning, and am thinking I could develop this skill into a small home business as there are no metal polishers listed in my phone book.
I will be hanging out at this forum a lot as I attempt to learn and improve this new skill....after I complete my polishing project, of course! I look forward to all the tips, hints, and ideas I will garner.
