| Hi.. I'm looking for info.. I plan to make wooden cookie mold/press. Wondering if anyone has done this, and what type of wood should I use? Basically, it's similar to a print relief.. I'd be using a square/rectangle approx size of 3X 2 , carve/cut away a design.. then once cleaned, the cookie mold would be given a light coat of olive oil/ veg oil then pressed into cookie dough, when pulled away, the design will remain in the dough. I imagine you ask why?? I'm trying to replicate (from memory) old European cookie blocks, to make the cookies my Dad had as a child..I have the family recipe, but not the cookie blocks.. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I would use and tight grained hard wood that you can find like eastern hard maple. I would not use open grained wood such as oak because small particles of the cookie batter will stick in it and go rancid on you. I would not use cooking oil to lubricate the press for the same reason (the oil will go rancid). Use a nut oil and you will be happy.

| For designs you might try looking on ebay and type in the kind of molds you want to make and someone might just have some up for auction that you could get ideas from to make your molds.

Dremel does have the Carbon steel brushes. The numbers are 428 for the round, 442 for the cup wheel, and 443 for the small end brush. Each one is $2.95. If you look on Amazon the price could be cheaper.
