Hi Folks,

I'm new with my dremel and am wondering if it's possible to use it to engrave silver-plate items. Please give me the benefit of your collective wisdom! Smile

Thanks,

Yes, it is possible to engrave plated items with your Dremel. Keep in mind that the plating process leaves a coating layer that is only molecules thick, and cutting through that layer will expose the base metal underneath, which may be more prone to oxidation than the plating. But you can always paint over the area with some clear fingernail polish to protect your handiwork.

cut to fit, file to match, paint to hide
