I bought a dremel 8200 almost a year ago and just yesterday got around to the project I purchased it for. It was fully charged but after 5 or so minutes the battery was dead. I charged it up again and the same thing happened after just minutes of use. I went on line seeking info and imagine my surprise to find this site and others describing exactly the same scenario. Luckily I purchased an extended warranty from Lowes where I pick it up, it runs out this Saturday - back it goes. Lowes had better honour the warranty and replace it with a wired dremel.

****o this is Beth from Dremel.  I am truly sorry that you have been experiencing some trouble with your tool.  As ALWAYS ... Dremel does offer a warranty on all of their tools.  For your cordless... you have a 2 Year Warranty on it through the manufacturer.  (The "additional" warranty you purchased through the store is something that they offer and they will honor it AFTER you have fulfilled the warranty through us). To get further information as to how to get warranted service on your tool through us, please call our Dremel Customer Service Department at 1-800-437-3635, Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 6:00 pm, CST.  Have a good day!

They must have fixed this.

I have an 8200 that came with 2 batteries. If I use it on high (30k rpm) I bet it lasts maybe 15 minutes-but that was to be expected.

I have 4 batteries and haven't noticed an issue with any of them.

The only gripe I would have on batteries is that they take about an hour to charge... that's why I bought 2 more (for a total of 4).
