I have a dremel moto saw and want to know how to use the dust extractor. I can not find any advice online. Neither of my 2 vacuum cleaners fit, there is only the hole at the base of the table unit and that is the same width as the pipe on my cleaners.

I am not sure if there should have been an adapater with my saw to push into the hole on the table unit that my pipe then attaches to?

Can anyone please help?

****o, this is Beth from Dremel.  Your Moto-Saw should include a vacuum dust adapter.  The adaptor can be used to connect the vacuum hose to either the left or the right side of the tool.  The outside of the adaptor can be used to connect a 1 5/8" and the inside of the adapter can be used to connect 1 3/8".  It could be that your vacuum or shop vac has a 1 1/4" size.  If this is the case, please call Dremel direct, we can get you an adapter for this as well.  Please call us on our toll free phone number of 1-800-437-3635, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, CST.  Any of us would be more than happy to assist you.

****o Beth, my saw didn't come with the adapter, only hole under the saw table itself. The hose on my vacuum is 3.5 cm. I'm not good with inches but think it's 1 and 3 8ths.

I live in the UK, is there a way to contact you here to request the part?

****o, dremel uk have said they cannot supply this piece. Why not, I think they are putting users at an unecessary risk as there is clearly a situation. Can anyone shed any light onto the sheer ridiculousness of this?

****o this is Beth from the USA Dremel Customer Service Department.  I'm sorry to hear that the Dremel UK was unable to assist you with getting an adapter to you for your MotoSaw. I'd be happy to supply you with one through us.  I will send you a separate email so you can respond to me with some questions I have for you and your mailing information okay?  For others who might be in this same situation, I suggest you call our Dremel Customer Service Department on the toll free phone number of 1-800-437-3635, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, CST.

First off, I love the Moto-saw! I use it to make signs and gift shop items for the Endangered Wolf Center here in St. Louis. They love the things I've made for them, and I couldn't have done it with the Moto-saw.

I do have some suggestions. First, the area where chips and dust go into the vacuum port should be at least as wide as the area around the blade. I regularly have to jigger bits of wood into the port with a file.

Second, the vacuum adapter should have a curved neck so wood chips don't block it up and stop the suction. Just yesterday I had to stop work and clear out the adapter.

Third, can you modify the saw so the lower blade clamp always stops at the top of the  stroke? This would make it easier to change the blades. I do lots of interior cuts, so I frequently have to pull the blade out and reinstall it.

And, from my wish list: In the future you might consider making the blade able to rotate through 360 or at least 180 degrees. Sometimes a precision cut is very tricky and the ability to attack it from a full range of angles would be a tremendous help.
